Sudan welcomes Palestinian-Israeli ceasefire deal

 KHARTOUM, May 22 (Xinhua) —

Sudan on Friday welcomed the declaration of a ceasefire agreement between Palestinian factions and Israel, said Sudan’s Foreign Ministry in a statement.

It urged the international community, the U.S. administration in particular, to adopt necessary measures to prevent any recurrence of deliberate violations and flagrant attacks on the rights of the Palestinian people.

The ministry also demanded that the international community speed up the provision of assistance and compensations to rehabilitate the destroyed areas and alleviate the humanitarian conditions.

The ceasefire agreement between Israel and the Palestinian factions in the Gaza Strip was reached by Egyptian mediation and came into force at 2 a.m. local time on Friday.

The deal came after 11 days of violent conflicts that caused hundreds of casualties. RSS
